Mosaic pictures

stitched up from many small photographs with some special symbols or rich meanings

have already been broadly applied in advertisement

artistic designs and drumbeating.This paper presents a series of semiautomatic methods to generate this kind of pictures.This method includes a matching model

which can arrange small photographs into a mosaic with an optimization algorithm

a model modifying some less matchable photographs in the HIS color space and a series of artifices to improve the visual effect.It can be concluded from the experiments on several symbols of the 2008 Beijing olympic that the series of semiautomatic methods can make mosaic pictures well and provide the materials of a unique style

for advertisement and flacks.
