To improve the precision of vessel segmentation and analysis affected by the quality of portal vein angiography images
a new function of comparability is presented in this paper to enhance the contrast between hepatic portal vein and other tissues such as liver parenchyma
which is based on a thorough analysis of the Hessian matrix based multiscale filter. An automated definition of interested grey range was achieved by analyzing the characteristics of portal vein angiography images. Then in which range a function of comparability
combined the multiscale Hessian matrix’s eigenvalue characteristics and original angiography’s intensity information
is used to enhance the portal vein angiography images. And the results show that the improved Hessian matrix based multiscale filter can significantly enhance the portal vein with multislice spiral CT angiography.
