the authors discussed some problems of implementing Java-Based WebGIS. First

the authors investigate of the storage format of spatial data

then discussed the process of how to utilize the network advantages of Java language to implement the access of spatial data through Internet

and how to set up Java Applet to display the map

and finally developed a simple WebGIS using Java.
