At present

the condition access(CA) has been separated from the "separation of machine and card" set-top box.The channel decoder and source decoder remain together

which disadvantages the development of the integration of digital television(DTV).In this paper

a new "separation of source decoder and channel decoder" scheme of digital set-top box is further proposed

in which the channel decoder is divided as an independent part

and only the source decoder is left.
