This paper first of all based on the wavelet pyramidel decomposition of the images.the distributed properties in the data of each subband are analyzed in detail. According to these properties .a modified block-partition method and a large number-determined method used in vector quantization are presented. Then the thermal image compression using wavelet transformation has been studied.
