there is no any practical and available method to assess the influence of image compression on the image measurement quality. This paper proposes a reliable method which not only agrees with the assessment criterion of the visual effect but also can quantitively get the geometrical position distortion under the influence of image compression. Therefore it is suitable for high precision digital photogrammetry and other high precision digital image processing.
