we present a new video coding scheme based on three dimensional wavelet transformation with motion compensation(3DMCWT). First
we apply 1D temporal wavelet decomposition along the motion trajectory and 2D spatial wavelet decomposition
and obtain spatio temporal multiresolution representation of the original video signal. Then
we construct several 3D orientation hierarchical trees for the wavelet coefficients in all subbands
and encode them with an extention of SPIHT algorithm introduced by Said and Pearlman(3D SPIHT). Our simulations demonstrate that this method is very efficient. What's more
it can provide both multirate and spatio temporal multiresolution video scalability.
