As the component of National Coal Resources Information System(NCR IS)

the Coal Field Geology Symbolic Library(CFGS92) is researched and developed according to two handboods which are the symbolic standard of national coal field geology mapping. One of the two handbooks is named Standard Symbols of Coal Field Geology

while the other is titled Standard Symbols for the Third Coal Field Forecast Mapping. The hierarchical structure and the main components of CFGS92 are discussed with the illustration of frame chart. The basic characteristics and the applied effects are analyzed and demonstrated through the concrete examples. The article sets up the specialized classification system and the applied classification system of coal field geology symbols. The coding rules of coal field geollogy symbols are expounded

and the operations of CFGS92 are studied as well. At last

the author points out the developing prospect of CFGS92.
